Tohatchi is a census-designated place in McKinley County, New Mexico, United States. It is located in the northwestern part of the state, east of Shiprock, and has a population of approximately 1,000 people. The community is part of the Navajo Nation, and the majority of the residents are Navajo. Tohatchi is home to a variety of businesses, including a grocery store, gas station, and several small restaurants. It is also the location of Tohatchi High School, which serves students in grades 7-12. The landscape surrounding Tohatchi is predominantly desert and includes numerous rocky outcroppings and mesas.
